action

The main character Sōichi Negishi, as a shy teenager, dreams of playing in a hip band while studying in Tokyo . Despite his love for Swedish pop music , he finds himself fronting the death metal band Detroit Metal City ( DMC for short ). There he performs together with the wild drummer Terumichi Nishida and the bassist Masayuki Wada. All three are hidden behind white masks that are based on those of the band Kiss . Another member of the band is Keisuke Nashimoto, who takes on the role of the “capitalist pig” in the concerts. He is regularly abused by Sōichi, who appears as his alter ego "Johannes Krauser II." Driven by the loud and aggressive President of Death Records , the band members are dictated a life that they themselves did not want.

In the midst of this conflict, Sōichi meets his old school friend and love Yuri Aikawa, who despises the band and their often radical fans. So Sōichi tries to manage the balancing act between these two worlds. In the meantime the band is becoming more and more popular and Sōichi can choose less and less between his love and the stage.
