Karin Wolf (musician)

Karin Wolf is a German violist and music teacher.

Wolf first studied musicology, philosophy and German, then violin at the Cologne University of Music . After completing her violin studies, she studied viola with Max Rostal in Bern and with Bruno Giuranna in Berlin. She has appeared as a soloist and at chamber music festivals in Europe, Asia, Africa and the USA and has worked with Matthias Kirschnereit , Wolfgang Meyer , the members of the Amadeus Quartet and the Melos Quartet , among others .

In 1985 she was one of the founding members of the Verdi Quartet , with whom she performed internationally and produced numerous CDs, including all of Franz Schubert's string quartets and a complete recording of chamber music for strings by Johannes Brahms (2010).

In 2003 she became professor for viola and chamber music at the Rostock University of Music and Theater , and in 2009 at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts .
