The Karl-Arnold-Haus is located at Palmenstrasse 16 in Düsseldorf - Unterbilk , adjacent to the Florapark , and houses the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts .

The building was built from 1958 to 1960 according to plans by Hans Schwippert and Friedrich Kohlmann. The building owner was the “House of Science” foundation. The building was erected as the seat of the working group for research, today the “North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts”, and was named after its founder, the then Prime Minister Karl Arnold, named. The elongated, two-storey building is a reinforced concrete frame structure that is painted in a light yellow tone on the outside. The exterior of the originally gold leaf framework is filled with windows, the window frames being made of bronze. The parapet fields are filled with basalt lava stone. The center of the house is formed by two conference rooms for 400 and 80 people. The smaller discussion room is circular, the larger congress hall is rectangular with concentric seating. Both halls are surrounded by a continuous band of foyers.
