Karl-Heinz Frank

Karl-Heinz Frank (* 1966 in Landshut ) is a German certified forest manager and head of the Frankfurt am Main fire department .

Live and act

Frank was born in Landshut and studied forest science in Munich . In 1993 he began his training for the higher fire service in Stuttgart . In 1995 he moved to Frankfurt am Main and took on tasks as a subject manager in the departments "Training & Environmental Protection", "Preventive Fire Protection" and "Defensive Fire Protection". Responsible as deputy head of office from 2002 onwards, he headed the "Operations and Training" department until 2007 and the hazard prevention department from 2007 to 2018. During this time he was also head of the city's refugee management department in 2015/2016. On April 1, 2018, Frank succeeded Reinhard Ries as head of the Frankfurt am Main fire department.

Frank has been coordinating international humanitarian aid for the United Nations and the European Union in crises and natural disasters worldwide for over 20 years . Among other things, he was on duty after the 2004 tsunami in Banda Aceh and traveled to Indonesia as the head of a ten-strong UNDAC team of experts . He was also on site after the severe earthquake in Nepal in 2015 .
