Karl-Heinz Scholtyssek

Karl-Heinz Scholtyssek (born February 14, 1931 in Beuthen in Upper Silesia ) is a former German ambassador .

Life

Karl-Heinz Scholtyssek, son of Richard Scholtyssek and his wife Elisabeth, née Weissenberg, began studying economics at the University of Cologne after graduating from high school . In 1951 he completed a study visit at Hamilton College with financial support from the Fulbright program and graduated in 1955 with a degree in economics . On July 21, 1958 he received his doctorate as Dr. rer. pole. at the Economics and Social Science Faculty of the University of Cologne with the dissertation The Community Finance System: A Comparison between the Federal Republic of Germany and England .

In 1959 Scholtyssek joined the Foreign Service and was employed at the headquarters of the Foreign Office in Bonn and at the diplomatic missions in Algiers , Madrid , Sydney , Wellington , Hong Kong , Athens and Rio de Janeiro . After holding the exequatur as Consul General in Melbourne from 1981 to 1986 , he worked for the Federal Government 's Press and Information Office between 1986 and 1989 . In 1989 he replaced Klaus Max Franke as ambassador to Bangladesh and remained there until 1993, when Jürgen Gehl took over as his successor there. Most recently he succeeded Martin Schneller as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Nepal in 1993 and held this position until he retired in 1996, after which he was replaced by Klaus Barth .

Scholtyssek is the father of two daughters and through the marriage of his daughter Christina Scholtyssek the father-in-law of the title dealer Hans-Hermann Weyer .
