Karl-Henning Rehren (* 1956 in Celle ) is a German physicist in the field of quantum field theory .

Life

Rehren studied physics in Göttingen , Heidelberg and Freiburg im Breisgau . In 1984 he received his doctorate with a thesis on the invariant quantization of the relativistic free strings with Klaus Pohlmeyer in Freiburg. In 1991 he completed his habilitation in Berlin . Since 1997 he has been teaching at the Georg-August University in Göttingen .

He mainly works in the field of algebraic quantum field theory . Probably his best known work from 1999 deals with the holographic principle . He himself sees his work as proof of this assumption, but this is rejected by representatives of string theory . In this context, the term algebraic holography or Rehren duality was coined in order to distinguish his work from the view of the holographic principle, which is widespread among string theorists.
