Klaus Fredenhagen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Klaus Fredenhagen (born December 1, 1947 in Celle ) is a theoretical (mathematical) physicist who is currently researching and teaching as a professor at the University of Hamburg (II. Institute for Theoretical Physics and DESY ). He is the grandson of Karl Fredenhagen .

He received his doctorate in 1976 from the University of Hamburg under Gert Roepstorff and Rudolf Haag . Dissertation topic: quantum electrodynamics with one degree of freedom for the photon field .

Life

His research interests include algebraic quantum field theory and quantum field theories in curved spacetime . In 1981 he gave a proof for the existence of antiparticles in quantum field theories of massive particles, which was considered under more general assumptions than the proofs about the TCP theorem. In 1990 he and Rudolf Haag proved the existence of Hawking radiation black holes under very general conditions.
