Karl-Joachim Dreyer

Karl-Joachim Dreyer (born July 13, 1942 in Hamburg ) is a former Hamburg bank manager and was President of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce from 2002 to 2008 .

education and profession

Dreyer was in the district of Eppendorf to school, graduated after graduating from high school from 1963 to 1965, first a bank apprenticeship at the Hamburg Commerzbank before 1966-1971 at the local university law studies. The subsequent legal training he completed in 1975 at the Higher Regional Court as Assessor and received his doctorate in the same year Dr.iur on "Hamburg as a member of the German Confederation (1815-1848)".

From 1975 to 1979 Dreyer worked as in-house counsel at Hamburgische Kaufmannsbank Nottebohm & Co, but then switched to Hamburger Sparkasse and began his career there as an authorized signatory in the board secretariat, which he took over in 1982. In 1985 he became a board member and in 1989 replaced Peter Mählmann as board spokesman . As such, Dreyer laid the foundation stone for a new corporate structure for Germany's largest savings bank in 2003. With the establishment of a holding company, banking operations were spun off into a stock corporation and Dreyer was also the spokesman for this HASPA financial holding company in June 2003. In addition, minority stakes were made in all four free savings banks in Schleswig-Holstein. From 2005, together with the Sparkasse in Bremen, he promoted the bundling of services for savings banks in NRS Norddeutsche Retail-Service AG.

After retiring from the Management Board in January 2007 for reasons of age, Dreyer first became Chairman of the Administrative Board of HASPA-Holding in February 2007, and two months later he also became Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Hamburger Sparkasse. Dreyer worked there until April 2015. Günter Elste was his successor .

Honorary positions

In 1991 Dreyer was elected to the presidium for the first time by the plenum of the Chamber of Commerce. From 2002 to 2008 he was President of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce.

Dreyer has been a member of the board of trustees of the Zeit Foundation Ebelin and Gerd Bucerius in Hamburg since the beginning of 2009 . He is the chairman of the board of the Peter Mählmann Foundation.

From 1998 to 2012 Dreyer was a member and most recently chairman of the supervisory board of Bijou Brigitte modische Accessoires AG. In addition, he was a member of the Hamburg Port Authority's supervisory board until 2008 .

Dreyer has been awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, First Class , which he received in 2008.
