The Bijou Brigitte AG , shortly Bijou Brigitte is a provider of fashion jewelry and fashion accessories based in Hamburg and is aimed mainly at female customers. The Bijou Brigitte Group operates more than 1,100 branches in Europe. The foreign share of specialist shops was 64.4 percent. The company claims to be the market leader in its field.

In 2010, sales fell by 3.1 percent to EUR 377.9 million compared to the previous year (previous year: EUR 390.1 million). On a like-for-like basis, sales fell by 7.2 percent. The group profit after taxes was 58.3 million euros. The international branch network comprised 1,167 locations. In the 2011 financial year, sales amounted to 374.65 million euros, which is 0.9 percent lower than in 2010. The company is listed in the North German regional index HASPAX .

history

The company was founded on July 8, 1963 in Hamburg as an import and trading company for fashion jewelry. Three years later, the company built up its own machine production and a nationwide field service for dealer support.

In 1987, the company was transformed into "Bijou Brigitte modische Accessoires Aktiengesellschaft". In the same year a new production, storage and dispatch building was built in Hamburg-Poppenbüttel . A year later the company went public on the regulated market at the Hamburg Stock Exchange . The first foreign branches in Austria and the Netherlands opened in 1989.

In 1996, the former Woolworth subsidiary Rubin was taken over.

After the company had already opened branches in several European countries, expansion into the USA followed in 2006 , where the first branch was opened in Florida . The number of 1,000 branches was exceeded in 2007.

Products

The company mainly offers costume jewelery, but also children's jewelery and higher quality jewelery such as real silver jewelery, a gemstone and amber collection, a range of minerals and fossils and the designer product line “Senso di Donna”.

The product range includes bracelets, brooches, hair accessories, necklaces, body jewelry, earrings, rings and other products. In the area of ​​fashionable accessories, the range includes belts, men's accessories, hats, scarves, sunglasses, bags, scarves and watches. The range includes around 9,000 items.
