Karl-Josef Freiherr von Ketteler

Karl-Josef Freiherr von Ketteler (born March 19, 1934 in Lippstadt - Bökenförde ; † May 31, 2006 in Lippstadt) was a German homeland researcher and genealogist.

Life

Karl-Joseph Freiherr von Ketteler , born in Castle Schwarzenraben was the eldest son of, Fideikommissherren Wilderich Freiherr von Ketteler- Harkotten at Castle Black Raven , Good Mittelhausen Störmede and Schloss Eringerfeld with Mary countess and noble daughter to and from Eltz gen. Fist of Stromberg and had eight siblings. He was a great-grandson of Friedrich Clemens von Ketteler . At the age of 18, he experimented with various chemicals to make animation films, injuring his left hand and eye. The hand had to be amputated. He studied law without a degree. He was married and had three sons. Ketteler spent the last years of his life in Geseke- Störmede and devoted himself intensively to family and homeland research. He died in the Trinity Hospital in Lippstadt .

Professional activity

Ketteler worked for MAN in Nuremberg until the company was broken up . There he was head of the liaison office to the field sales force and in this role had many colleagues around the world with whom he was on friendly terms until his death.

Writing work

Later, Ketteler distinguished himself as a connoisseur of local history in the Soest district . He researched the family history and acted as the editor of several historical works, especially for the extensive work by Hans Grusemann on the early history of the Ketteler family. Many of his works were published in the hometowns of the cities of Geseke and Lippstadt , both of which appeared as supplements to the local newspaper Der Patriot or in its Geseker edition, Geseker Zeitung .

Shortly before his death, the Geseker Verein für Heimatkunde 1926 eV granted von Ketteler honorary membership.
