The works of Karl-Otto Jung can be assigned to modern realism . He is interested in "the representation of reality drawn from the perception of the visible world, as it is manifested in portraits, landscapes or still lifes". In addition, he uses realistic art to create ideas that have sprung from the artist's imagination and thinking. " Lorenz Dittmann aptly quotes a sentence from Max Liebermann in order to paraphrase the peculiarity of Karl-Otto Jung's artistic creation : painting is an imitation of nature from which it borrows its material, but without creative imagination it remains a mindless copy ." In addition to oil paintings and watercolors, he creates drawings and etchings . The artist is also active as an author. He has written several papers on art theory, in particular reflecting on "Basic Questions in the Visual Arts", the title of one of his books from 1994.
