Karl Öttl

Karl Öttl (born August 13, 1902 in St. Pölten ; † March 9, 1988 in Traunkirchen ) was an Upper Austrian postal worker and politician. In 1945 he was a member of the provincial government of Eigl (Upper Austrian government of civil servants).

Life

Öttl attended a secondary school in Vienna between 1913 and 1921 and graduated with distinction in 1921 when he passed his Matura . He then studied mechanical engineering and electrical engineering at the Technical University in Vienna from 1923 to 1932 , taking the first state examination in mechanical engineering in 1923 and the second state examination in electrical engineering in 1925, each with distinction. On July 9, 1932, he finally received his doctorate in engineering. As early as 1926, Öttl joined the Post Office Upper Austria as a civil servant candidate, where he was subsequently employed. Between May 17, 1945 and October 25, 1945, he took over the telecommunications and postal affairs department in the government officials appointed by the American occupation forces under Governor Eigl, since in 1945 the state government also had to take on federal affairs in its own sphere of activity. After the government was replaced by the provisional state government, Öttl took over the management of the Salzburg postal inspection between 1946 and 1951, and from 1946 to 1952 he was head of the Linz post office. from 1952 until his retirement in 1967 he was President of the Post Office.
