Karl Adam (writer)

Karl Adam (born November 24, 1849 in Treptow an der Tollense , † December 22, 1916 in Greifswald ) was a Low German author.

Karl Adam was a son of the Treptow doctor Wilhelm Ernst Friedrich Adam (1812-1853), a close friend of Fritz Reuters , and his wife Mathilde Balthasar (1823-1918). He attended the Treptower City School until 1858 and then received private lessons for three years. In 1861 he arrived in Greifswald to high school here and then first studied from 1869 to 1872 in Jena Jura . From 1877 to 1882 he was a research assistant at the University Library of Greifswald . Around 1915 he was registered as a freelance writer in Greifswald. Karl Adam died a year later.

Adam wrote a Low German chronicle of Greifswald and published Low German poems in newspapers and magazines.
