Karl Adamek (musician)
Karl Adamek (born August 27, 1952 in Kleve ) is a German music sociologist and co-founder of the International Network for the Promotion of Everyday Culture of Singing. V. Il canto del mondo .
Life
Adamek studied sociology, psychology and education at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster and received his doctorate in 1982 under Ernst Klusen on the sociology of singing . In the 1970s, Adamek dealt primarily with researching the culture of the workers' song . In this context, in 1981 he brought out the LiederBilderLeseBuch - Lieder of the workers 'movement at the Gutenberg Book Guild , which, in addition to sheet music for numerous workers' songs from the period from 1830 to the present, provides historically relevant background information on the origins of songs.
In 1988, as part of his work at the Kultur Kooperative Ruhr in Dortmund , Adamek founded the international music and choir project Windrose-Rüzgargülü songs from all directions , with the aim of getting closer to each other through singing together and understanding each other's culture wake up. Windrose choirs sang at various citizens' meeting events in the Ruhr area and advocated the idea of a multicultural society .
After his departure, Adamek continued to research the spiritual meaning of singing and published several books on it. As a freelance author and music therapist, he developed the SINTALA concept of healing singing and made a name for himself in the field of singing research and singing therapy. Under the title canto elementar , Adamek founded a nationwide cross-generational singing project. Seniors volunteer as part of the project by singing with kindergarten children and teaching them forgotten songs.
Project work
The core message of Karl Adamek's project work is that voluntary, informal, non-performance-oriented singing promotes the psychological development of the child and in particular the development of social skills such as a sense of community and solidarity. Adamek's scientific work is regarded as the first empirical evidence that the loss of the ability to sing naturally, which in his opinion was increasingly lost in the post-war generations, does not remain without consequences for the mental balance and development of children.
Together with the music therapist Carina Eckes and the qualified social worker Heike Kersting, Adamek teaches interested musicians, but above all laypeople, the idea of singing as a self-healing method through the meridian singing they have developed. With the Treuhand-Stiftung Deutsche Stiftung Singen , founded in January 2008, Adamek wants to support singing projects from various organizations and help to anchor the simple singing of people without artistic aspirations in everyday life.
As part of the Il-Canto-del-Mondo association, Adamek founded the Canto Elementar program, which is committed to encouraging children in kindergartens and schools to sing and make music. There are numerous prominent supporters for this. In 2012 Canto Elementar received the national prize worth 50,000 euros.
In 2017 he was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon.
