Karl Barth (politician, 1811)

Karl Barth (born June 2, 1811 in Eichstätt , † January 2, 1886 in Augsburg ) was a Bavarian lawyer , author and politician .

Life

Karl Barth graduated from high school and studied law in Munich . He then worked mainly as a defense lawyer at jury courts and was based in Augsburg. At the same time he was active as a writer. He reported in literary form on his work as a defense attorney, wrote about the labor issue in the school system and published a criticism of the new Bavarian criminal law.

From 1863 to 1875 Barth was a member of the Bavarian Chamber of Deputies , first for the Augsburg constituency, then for the Dillingen constituency and finally for the Kempten constituency. He campaigned for general direct elections and the maintenance of the customs union .

From 1868 to 1870 he was also a member of the customs parliament as a member of the Schwaben 1 constituency ( Augsburg , Wertingen ) . He represented the political direction of the Bavarian Patriot Party .

Karl Barth was the brother of Marquard Adolph Barth , who also belonged to the Bavarian Chamber of Deputies and the Customs Parliament.
