Karl Berg (politician, 1828)

Karl Nikolaus Berg , also Carl Nicolaus Berg (born March 28, 1826 in Frankfurt am Main ; † January 26, 1887 ibid) was a German politician in Frankfurt am Main.

Karl Berg was the son of the military doctor Johann Gerhard Wilhelm Philipp Berg (1791–1849). He studied law and was awarded a Dr. jur. PhD. From 1861 he was a notary in Frankfurt am Main. In 1881 he was honored with the title of Councilor of Justice.

In 1865 he was elected to the Senate of the Free City of Frankfurt , but this was dissolved the following year with the annexation of the Free City of Frankfurt by Prussia .

1868-1880 he was mayor of Frankfurt am Main and in 1881 chairman of the Free German Hochstift .
