Karl Bopp (theologian)

Karl Bopp SDB (born January 29, 1953 in Eichen ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

From 1975 to 1982 Bopp studied Roman Catholic theology and social pedagogy at the Philosophical-Theological College of the Salesians Don Boscos Benediktbeuern - Theological Faculty . In 1983 Bopp was ordained a Catholic priest. Since 1998 Bopp has been professor of pastoral theology at the Philosophical-Theological College of the Salesians Don Bosco in Benediktbeuern . From 2000 to 2005 he assumed the role of rector of the Philosophical-Theological University Benediktbeuern. In the 2010/2011 winter semester, he represented the Chair of Practical Theology at the University of Augsburg. He is a signatory of the memorandum “ Church 2011: A Necessary Awakening ”.
