Karl Brückner (born September 27, 1920 ; † unknown) was a German football player. For the BSG Chemie Leipzig and the BSG Motor Jena , he played in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football .

Athletic career

At the age of 31, Karl Brückner began his career in the GDR Oberliga, initially with the company sports association (BSG) Chemie Leipzig. He was not part of the defending champion's main team in the 1951/52 season and did not make his first league appearance until matchday 14 (in chronological order) in the encounter between BSG Chemie and Lok Stendal (0: 1). Brückner was used as the right defender on behalf of the regular defender Walter Rose . He played a second league game on the penultimate matchday at home against Motor Gera (5-2) as a left defender instead of Rolf Mücklich .

After the end of the season, Karl Brückner moved to the league promoted Motor Jena. There, too, he did not succeed in joining the regular squad. In contrast to Chemie Leipzig, trainer Bernhard Schipphorst Brückner used as a striker, on the 20th matchday in the league game Motor Jena - Lok Stendal (0: 2) as a half-left striker and on the penultimate matchday at Motor Zwickau - Motor Jena (6: 0) on the left wing position. The Jena team did not manage to stay up and played in the second-rate GDR league again in the next few years . There Brückner also belonged to the squad in the seasons 1953/54 and 1954/55, but remained only a substitute player. He was used in eight point games in 1953/54, in which he mainly played on the right wing position. In 1954/55 he was only a substitute in the first half of the season in two league games.

He then retired as a 35-year-old from higher-class football, where he played four major league and ten GDR league games between 1951 and 1954. In all games he remained without a goal.
