Rolf Mücklich (born January 8, 1927 in Dresden ; † July 2, 1979 in Potsdam ) was a soccer player in the GDR's soccer game . For BSG Chemie Leipzig and ZSK Vorwärts Berlin , he played in the GDR league , the highest GDR division, in the 1950s .

Athletic career

In 1939, during the Second World War , Rolf Mücklich began his football career in Lichtensee in northern Saxony . In 1948 he joined the SG Dresden Striesen . In the same year this was converted into ZSG Nagema and in 1949 into BSG Tabak Dresden. With BSG Tabak, Mücklich played in the then third-class state class of Saxony until the end of the season .

At the beginning of the 1951/52 season, Mücklich moved to the league champions Chemistry Leipzig. There were 36 point games to complete, of which Mücklich played 33 matches and was usually used as a left defender. 1952/53 he was only used in the last three league games of the first half of the season, in which he defended on the left again.

From the second half of 1952/53 on, Mücklich played for the Leipzig- based police sports association Vorwärts , which was also represented in the major league. By the end of the season, Mücklich had played seven of the 18 point games, the last eight being in East Berlin . Mücklich was also a defender on the police team. At the end of the season, SV Vorwärts had to relegate from the league. At the beginning of the 1953/54 season, the previous SV Vorwärts started as ZSK Vorwärts Berlin. Mücklich also had to wait a long time for a regular place in the second-class league. Only in the last seven league games was he regularly in the starting line-up, contrary to his previous career now as a striker or in midfield. ZSK ended the 1953/54 season as a promoted team. For the league season 1954/55 Mücklich was part of the squad, but was only used in the 6th and 7th point players of the Berliners in the first half of the season. He was in the starting line-up both times as a right winger, but was replaced early in the second game due to his weak performance.

In January 1955, the ZSK Vorwärts carried out a radical reorganization of its league team, in which numerous players were assigned to the newly formed SC Vorwärts Leipzig in the GDR league. Among them was Rolf Mücklich, who only stayed in Leipzig until the end of the season. Of the twelve league games played by SC Vorwärts, Mücklich played six games in which he was used as a defender again.

At the end of the 1954/55 season, Vorwärts Leipzig was moved to Cottbus and had to compete there in the third-class II. GDR League . Mücklich stayed with SC Vorwärts Cottbus until June 1957 (end of the first half of the season after the calendar year). In Cottbus he completed 52 games in the II. League. He had his best playing time in 1956, when he played 24 games of the 26 league games and scored ten goals.

In the summer of 1957, Mücklich ended his career as a competitive athlete at the age of 30. He had played 45 games in the Oberliga and 21 GDR league games. He scored five goals in his GDR league games. From 1957 to 1960 Mücklich was the trainer for the fifth-rate football team Motor Ludwigsfelde.
