Karl Drechsler (musician)
Karl Drechsler (born June 27, 1800 in Kamenz , † December 1, 1873 in Dessau ) was a German cellist .
He joined the Dessau court orchestra in 1820. In 1824 he went to Dresden for a long time to study with Friedrich Dotzauer (1783-1860). In 1826 he was given a permanent position in Dessau and the title of ducal Kapellmeister. Drechsler was equally important as a solo, quartet and orchestra player, taught the young Carl Schroeder (1848–1935) and as a teacher drew numerous students to Dessau, including Friedrich Grützmacher (1832–1903).
