Karl Erich Born

Karl Erich Born (born April 24, 1922 in Minden ; † March 23, 2000 in Tübingen ) was a German economic and social historian . From 1962 to 1987 he was a full professor of economic and social history at the Faculty of Law and Political Science (later: Faculty of Economics) at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen .

Born received his doctorate in 1953 at the University of Cologne and habilitated there in 1957. He was co-editor of the collection of sources on the history of German social policy 1867 to 1914 at the Academy of Sciences and Literature in Mainz and the 8th and 9th edition of the third volume of Gebhardt's Handbook of German History .
