Karl Ernst Hartig
Karl Ernst Hartig (born January 20, 1836 in Stein, today the municipality of Königshain-Wiederau , Central Saxony district , † April 23, 1900 in Dresden ; also: Carl Ernst Hartig ) was a technologist.
Karl Ernst Hartig attended the technical schools in Chemnitz and Dresden, worked in Richard Hartmann's factory and, after completing his university studies, devoted himself to the subject of mechanical technology.
He became an assistant to Julius Ambrosius Hülße in Dresden, in 1863 a teacher and in 1865 a professor of mechanical technology at the Dresden Polytechnic . In the communications of the polytechnic school he published several studies on work machines, he also provided studies on the heating power of the coal in Saxony (Leipzig 1860) and in 1875 took over the editing of the journal Der Civilingenieur . Hartig died in Dresden in 1900. His grave is there in the Old Annenfriedhof .
Honors
In 1890 he was elected a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina .
