Karl Fichtel

Karl Fichtel (born July 5, 1863 in Schweinfurt , † September 7, 1911 in Bayreuth ) was a German industrialist and councilor .

Karl Fichtel came from an old Schweinfurt merchant family . On August 1, 1895, together with Ernst Sachs , he founded the Schweinfurt precision ball bearing factory Fichtel & Sachs . Fichtel brought capital of 15,000 gold marks into the company and managed the commercial fortunes of the company, which flourished from 1903. In the years before the company was founded, he had already worked as an international businessman.

In 1901 he took part in the founding meeting of the Association of German Motor Vehicle Industrialists (today the Association of the Automotive Industry ).

Due to a mental illness , Fichtel retired in 1910 from the management of the company, which was expanding rapidly at this time. He died in the Herzoghöhe Clinic in Bayreuth. His widow Hedwig Graetz and the children sold their company shares to Ernst Sachs in May / September 1929.
