Karl Fiegler

Karl Fiegler (born January 14, 1926 ) was a German football player who came to nine appearances in the Oberliga West for Meidericher SV .

Career

Fiegler played in the early 1950s for the Duisburg amateur club Schwarz-Weiß Westende until he was signed by the upper division Meidericher SV in 1954. The Oberliga West represented the highest division in the then regionally limited league system. The offensive player had considerable competition in a team with players such as Karl Hetzel , Kurt Küppers or Kurt Nolden and was therefore only called up occasionally. Towards the end of the season, the Meidericher were in acute danger of relegation and had to prevail in a long-distance duel against Westfalia Herne . While Herne managed a 3-2 win against MSV city rivals Duisburger Spielverein , Meiderich, with the help of Fiegler, was defeated by Herne local rivals SV Sodingen with 0-2 despite clear playful superiority, which resulted in the team being relegated. By then, Fiegler had played nine league games with two goals of his own.

In the 1955/56 season the Meidericher SV fought in the 2nd League West for direct promotion, for which a change was initiated under the new coach Hermann Lindemann and mainly focused on young players. Fiegler could not benefit from this and was only called up for one encounter during the season. Following his return to the league in 1956, his career at MSV ended after two years.
