Kurt Nolden (born May 26, 1929 ; † April 17, 2014 ) was a German football player who played 196 games in the Oberliga West in the service of Meidericher SV .

Career

Youth (until 1951)

Mostly used as a half-striker , Nolden grew up in the Duisburg district of Meiderich until he was brought to Lower Austria in 1943 as part of the Kinderland deportation , which was supposed to protect children from the dangers of the air raids during the Second World War . He stayed there after the end of the war, played football and even made it into the Austrian national B team. In December 1951 he returned to his homeland after eight years in the Alpine country.

Time with Meiderich (1952–1962)

After his return, his admission to the squad of Meidericher SV was planned, but due to the fact that he had already played for the Austrian B-selection and thus might have been treated as a foreigner, the granting of the playing permit was delayed. From the summer of 1952 he was a member of the league team and immediately became a regular player in what was then the regionally restricted top division, Oberliga West. During the 1954/55 season, however, he lost this role and also had to accept the relegation of his team to the II. Division ; around the same time, his younger brother Ludwig Nolden (* 1935) moved up to the team. In the second division he was again the undisputed part of the first team, acquired a reputation as a technically strong player and made his contribution to direct recovery in 1956. On December 9, 1956, national coach Sepp Herberger was in a 3-1 home win against Borussia Dortmund by Meiderich present, let himself be convinced by Kurt Nolden's performance and offered him the prospect of a service in the German national B team, which, however, never happened.

In terms of his goalscoring success, the season 1956/57 was his most successful, as he hit the target ten times. In the following time he remained seeded and played in the offensive department at the side of his brother. In 1957/58 he finished fourth in the table with his teammates as in 1952/53. After the summer break in 1961, the situation changed abruptly for the now over 30-year-old Nolden, as Werner Kubek and Gustav Walenciak, two young talents who represented potential competitors for the offensive, were hired. Both achieved an immediate breakthrough, which meant that Nolden was no longer taken into account during the 1961/62 season. He then ended his career at Meidericher SV in 1962 at the age of 33 after 179 top division games with 34 goals and 27 second division games with seven goals. Before that, he had been a member of the MSV team for ten years. In 1962/63 he added another round to Duisburg FV 08 in the 2nd League West , where he ended his playing career as a contract footballer after another 27 second division appearances with three goals

.

Amateur trainer (after 1962)

Shortly after his departure from Meiderich, he took over the role of player coach at the sixth division SV Morsbach and with this in 1964 he made it to the fifth highest division. In 1968 he gave up both player and coaching roles and was coach at SV Hermesdorf from 1969 until the 1970s . He died in spring 2014 at the age of 84.
