Isochorismic acid is a constitutional isomer of chorismic acid . Their salts and esters are called isochorismates. Isochorismat is z. B. formed from chorismate by means of the enzyme isochorismate synthase and represents an intermediate product in the synthesis of enterobactin . The reaction probably proceeds via a nucleophilic attack by water on the C2 carbon.
