Karl Frais (born December 7, 1948 in Gmunden ) is an Upper Austrian social democratic politician.

Life

Frais attended high school after elementary school, which he graduated with the Matura . He then successfully completed his doctorate in German , sports science and sociology in Salzburg.

Frais worked from 1977 to 1980 as the head of housing consultancy at WAG Linz and then worked as secretary and office manager of the former socialist deputy governor Karl Grünner .

From 1991 to November 2011 Frais held the position of club chairman of the Social Democrats in the state parliament in Upper Austria . The politician was active in the following committees: Committee on Constitution and Administration (in which he is chairman), Committee on Finance, Committee on Economic Affairs, in the Building Committee, Committee on Education, Youth and Sport, Committee on the Rules of Procedure and the Committee on EU Affairs.

In addition to his full-time activity as SPÖ club chairman, Frais is honorary chairman of Naturfreunde Österreich.

In 2012 he received the Grand Decoration of Honor in Gold for services to the Republic of Austria .

Frais is married and has one son.
