Karl Fricker
Karl Fricker (born June 12, 1870 in Wittnau , † August 23, 1933 in Aarau ) was a gymnastics teacher and gymnastics pioneer in the canton of Aargau and all of Switzerland .
Life
In 1898 Fricker was appointed to Olten as a specialist gymnastics teacher. With that he decided against his original intention to become a musician. He worked as a teacher and gymnastics teacher at the schools in Aarburg , was senior gymnast of the Aarburg gymnastics club and the Zofingen district gymnastics association, and then also a gymnastics teacher at the Aarburg teachers' seminar in Wettingen . From 1907 to 1913 he taught at the Aarau Cantonal School .
At the beginning of June 1906 he was involved in the founding of the Aarau ladies gymnastics club , a great success at the time, since women were frowned upon at the time. Despite the prejudices in the first few years, DTV Aarau was able to grow steadily.
In the same year Karl Fricker founded the Swiss gymnastics calendar, whose publisher, editor and editor he was until the end of his life. He wrote several dance books for school gymnastics. One of his presentations was a guiding text that justified the need to introduce girls 'school gymnastics and was therefore much discussed at the gymnastics teachers' meeting in 1907, as his ideas were new for the time. On December 30, 1911, at his suggestion, the gymnastics club was founded in his home community. His bust (1938) is in Aarau in the garden of the Swiss Gymnastics Association, Bahnhofstrasse 38, Aarau; Hans Trudel (1881-1958).
