Carl Fricker

Carl Victor Fricker (born February 2, 1830 in Stuttgart , † November 30, 1907 in Leipzig ; also Karl (Viktor) Fricker ) was a German legal scholar , university professor and politician .

Life

Fricker attended the Evangelical Theological Seminary in Schöntal Abbey from 1844 to 1848 and then studied law at the University of Tübingen until 1853 . This was followed in 1853 as a trainee lawyer at the Neckarsulm Higher Regional Court , at the Stuttgart City Office and in 1856 as a senior actuary at the Heilbronn Higher Regional Court . He was also an employee in the state office of the state parliament in Stuttgart before he became senior actuary in Ulm in 1861 . Also in 1861 took place at the University of Tuebingen its graduation to the Dr. jur. , 1862 his habilitation .

After his habilitation at first private lecturer , Fricker was appointed associate professor for state, international and police law in February 1863 , and then in 1865 as full professor . In 1868 he was elected to the second chamber of the Württemberg estates , to which he belonged until 1870. In the summer semester of 1875 he accepted an offer at the University of Leipzig , where he became a full professor of political science . In addition, he was director of the united political science seminars there. In 1902 he was given leave of absence for health reasons, and in 1903 he retired . From 1881 to 1886 Fricker also sat as a representative of the University of Leipzig in the Saxon state parliament .

Political attitude

Fricker was a strong supporter of the southern alliance and vehement opponent of German unification under Prussian leadership. In 1868 he won his mandate for Urach for the estates through this hiring . In the following election in 1870 he positioned himself against the accession of Württemberg to a German Confederation and lost his mandate for Urach.
