Jefferson Davis Brodhead

Jefferson Davis Brodhead (born January 12, 1859 in Easton , Pennsylvania , †  April 23, 1920 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician . Between 1907 and 1909 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Jefferson Brodhead was the son of US Senator Richard Brodhead (1811–1863). He attended the public schools in his home country. After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1881, he began to work in this profession in Stroudsburg . In 1889 he became a District Attorney in Northampton County . Politically, he joined the Democratic Party .

In the congressional election of 1906 Brodhead was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington in the 26th  constituency of Pennsylvania, where he succeeded Republican Gustav A. Schneebeli on March 4, 1907 . Since he was no longer nominated for re-election by his party in 1908, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1909 .

After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Brodhead practiced as a lawyer in South Bethlehem . In 1914 he became a Northampton County judge. He died on April 23, 1920 in the federal capital Washington and was buried in the city of his birth, Easton.
