Easton is a city ( City ) and county seat in Northampton County , Pennsylvania in the United States .

geography

Easton is located at the tributary of the Lehigh River in the Delaware River about 100 kilometers north of Philadelphia and west of New York City . Together with Allentown and Bethlehem , Easton forms the Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton Metropolitan Area .

history

The settlers who settled in 1739 founded the place under its current name in 1752. As early as 1758, a peace treaty was concluded here with the Lenni Lenape Indian tribe .

geology

1904 at Chestnut Hill , named after the place mineral Eastonit discovered.

economy

Agricultural wine region characterizes Lehigh Valley AVA region. The international pipe coupling system manufacturer Victaulic has its headquarters here. Lafayette College is located in the village .
