Karl Friedrich Bender
Karl Friedrich Bender (born December 14, 1806 in Eppelheim near Heidelberg, † September 1, 1869 in Illenau ) was a reform pedagogue.
Life
Karl Friedrich Bender studied theology in Halle and Heidelberg .
His brother Heinrich Wilhelm Bender (* 1801 in Rohrbach) had become the second principal of the Latin school in Weinheim around 1823 , which Albert Ludewig Grimm had headed since 1806. After Heinrich had founded his own educational institution for boys there, Karl Friedrich Bender joined in 1929 as a co-director. In 1832 they were able to announce the expansion of the school building and the increase in the number of teachers to six. After their school concept was copied from 1835 onwards, criticism arose, which they countered by employing academically trained teachers. Around 1859 the friendship began with Philipp Reis , who started teaching at this time. In 1864 Karl took over the sole management of the school.
The educational institution was merged with the Werner-Heisenberg-Gymnasium Weinheim in 1876 by Dietrich Bender (born August 29, 1841) .
