Karl Friedrich Eusebius Trahndorff
Karl Friedrich Eusebius Trahndorff (born October 18, 1782 in Berlin ; † February 15, 1863 there ) was a German philosophical writer.
Life
The son of a musician visited Trahndorff from his twelfth year at the school in Oels , where his father as director of the chapel of the Duke of Brunswick -Oels, I. Friedrich August , had been called. From 1801 he studied theology and philology in Königsberg and then worked his entire life as a high school teacher, mostly in Berlin .
Religious-philosophical classification
As a religious-philosophical writer, Trahndorff was one of the supranaturalists who, against theological rationalism , exaggerate the inevitability, supernaturalness and secrecy of religious revelation and - conversely - minimize the possibilities of human reason to understand the content of belief.
Trahndorff's polemical work Theos, not Cosmos! , with which he wanted to oppose the growing popularity of Alexander von Humboldt's work Kosmos , which he saw as incompatible with the Bible .
Trahndorff's work Aesthetics, or the theory of worldview and art, was particularly important for the Romantics and their conception of the “ total work of art ”. Trahndorff seems to have used this term for the first time.
