Karl Friedrich Lebret

Karl Friedrich Lebret (born November 1, 1764 in Stuttgart , † October 24, 1829 ) was a Württemberg theologian and librarian at the Ducal Public Library in Stuttgart.

Life

Lebret was the son of the Tübingen professor Johann Friedrich Lebret . After studying theology at the Evangelical Abbey in Tübingen, he was first court master in Paris. In 1789, Duke Karl Eugen of Württemberg appointed him professor of numismatics and heraldry at the High Charles School . At the same time he was appointed librarian at the Ducal Public Library in Stuttgart. In 1790, Lebret was also the overseer of the coin and medal cabinet and later also overseer of the art chamber. In 1828 Lebret became senior librarian and thus head of the library and was given the title of senior teacher.

Lebret was a member of the Society for Older German History and published several smaller historical writings himself.
