Karl Gebhardt (painter)
Karl Gebhardt (born March 23, 1860 in Munich ; † May 1917 there ) was a German history painter.
Gebhardt studied painting from 1875 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Ludwig von Löfftz and Wilhelm von Lindenschmit the Younger . In 1879 he received a scholarship which he used to study in Rome.
Gebhardt exhibited his works between 1883 and 1916 in the Munich and Berlin Glass Palaces. He was considered one of the most famous history painters in Munich, and later turned to the genre.
