Karl Goldammer

Karl Goldammer (born March 3, 1950 in Vienna as Karl Strnad;March 7, 2020 ) was an Austrian painter and lithographer .

Career

Karl Strnad was born in Vienna in 1950. From 1964 to 1969 he attended the Höhere Graphische Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt in Vienna and in 1969 came to the Academy of Applied Arts Vienna . Instead of his Czech family name, he signed his works with the name Goldammer , after the songbird .

He has been working as a freelance artist and lithographer since 1972 and his work has already been presented in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad. His preferred motifs are architectural representations (Vienna, Venice etc.) in a very detailed and realistic painting style.

Karl Goldammer lives in Maria Anzbach . The Goldammer Museum (Galerie Anzbach), which was closed in July 2018, is also located here.

Karl Goldammer died on March 7th.

Appreciation

  • In 2002 the Austrian Post issued a special postage stamp with his picture of Otto Wagner's “Schützenhaus am Donaukanal”.
