Karl Gottfried Traugott Faber (born November 10, 1786 in Dresden ; † July 27, 1863 there ) was a German painter , etcher and lithographer .

Life

In 1801 Traugott Faber was a student at the Dresden Art Academy , his teacher was Carl Christian Fechhelm . From 1804 to 1814 he worked in the studio of the landscape painter Johann Christian Klengel . Later he gave drawing lessons in Dresden. In 1820 he became a teacher at the Dresden Academy. Among his students was the portrait painter and graphic artist Ferdinand von Rayski .
