Carl Gottlob Just

Karl Gottlob Just , contemporary Carl Gottlob Just , (* August 20, 1734 in Zittau ; † December 24, 1792 ibid), not to be confused with Carl Gottlob Just , was a German lawyer and mayor of Zittau.

Life

Born as the son of the Syndic von Zittau Karl Philipp Just, he attended high school in his hometown until 1754. From May 16, 1754 he studied law at the University of Wittenberg , where he became a member of the German practicing society and completed his pro praxi forensi exam on December 19, 1757.

After completing his studies, he returned to his hometown, where he became senior legal counsel in 1757. In 1761 he was given the job of lower town clerk, in 1766 he was promoted to upper town clerk, in 1774 he became a syndic and in 1789 mayor. In the War of the Bavarian Succession , he and two other councilors were taken hostage to Vienna in 1778, but were released again during the war.

His nephew Ernst Friedrich Wilhelm Just, who later also became mayor of Zittau, also lived in his house.
