Karl Hax

Karl Hax , b. Carl Georg Otto Hax (born November 13, 1901 in Cologne ; † March 13, 1978 ibid) was a German professor of insurance and human resource management and rector of the University of Frankfurt . He held professorships in Darmstadt and Frankfurt am Main . In Cologne he was director of the Institute for Insurance Science .

Life

Hax studied economics in 1921 in Cologne and received his doctorate in 1926 under Eugen Schmalenbach Dr. rer. pole. In 1943 he completed his habilitation with Walther Rohrbeck at the University of Cologne . After his release from captivity in 1946, he was initially acting head of the Institute for Insurance Studies at the University of Cologne. From 1949 to 1952 he was professor of business administration at the Technical University of Darmstadt , from 1952 to 1969 professor of business administration at the University of Frankfurt a. M. From 1959 to 1960 he held a visiting professorship at the School of Business Administration at Kobe University .

From 1951 to 1974 he was a member of the supervisory board of Mannesmann AG , from 1962 to 1976 he was a member of the supervisory board of Gothaer Insurance , since 1970 its chairman.

He was one of the first authors in the trade journal Der Betrieb .

Hax was married to Elisabeth Sibylla Konz (1899–1984) since 1929. Their son was the economist Herbert Hax . Karl Hax died in 1978 at the age of 76. The family burial site is located in the Melaten cemetery in Cologne (lit. O).
