Karl Heinz Rahn

Karl Heinz Rahn (born August 11, 1937 in Bad Dürkheim ) is a German nephrologist and emeritus professor of internal medicine at the Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster .

Life

Rahn, grew up in Morbach , graduated from the Herzog-Johann-Gymnasium in Simmern in 1956 and accepted into the German National Academic Foundation. He studied medicine from 1956 to 1962 in Mainz and Düsseldorf . In 1962 he passed the medical state examination as well as the doctorate to Dr. med., then he received his clinical training as a medical assistant in Bochum and Herne. From 1963 to 1965 he was a research assistant at the Pharmacological Institute of the University of Mainz . He completed his specialist training in internal medicine at the 2nd Medical University Clinic in Mainz. After a stay at Emory University in Atlanta (USA), he returned to the Mainz University Clinic in 1968, where he received his habilitation in internal medicine and clinical pharmacology in 1971 . In 1972 he moved to the Department of Internal Medicine II at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen as a senior physician .

In 1976 Karl Heinz Rahn was appointed full professor at the University of Maastricht (Netherlands) and as a senior physician in the Department of Nephrology, Hypertension and Clinical Pharmacology at the Department of Internal Medicine . In 1987 he was appointed to the medical faculty of the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster , combined with his appointment as director of the medical clinic and polyclinic D. From 1993 until his retirement in 2004, Rahn was also the medical director of the Münster University Clinic.

The clinical focus of Karl Heinz Rahn is the treatment of hypertension and kidney diseases. In the scientific and experimental area, hypertension and nephrology form a focus.
