Karl Kaerner

Karl Kaerner (born July 26, 1804 in Kusel , † September 30, 1869 in Munich ) was a German civil engineer.

Kaerner studied from 1823 at the Polytechnic Institute in Berlin. He completed his studies in 1828 with the examination for the state building service.

In 1848 Kaerner came to Rosenheim and took over the post of the board of the Kgl. Building inspection. One of his most important engineering achievements was the construction of the covered Maximiliansbrücke in 1851 , which led across the Inn in Mühldorf a.Inn until it was blown up in 1945 . Four months after its inauguration, the city council of Mühldorf thanked Kaerner on February 14, 1852 by giving it honorary citizenship .

Today there is also a street named after him in the north of the city.
