Karl Kollbach

Karl Kollbach (* 1858 in Mülheim am Rhein ; † June 27, 1911 in Remagen ) was a German educator and travel writer.

Kollbach worked as a teacher at the secondary school in Bonn before he was appointed district school inspector for the Ahrweiler district in 1894 and moved to Remagen in the same year . In 1905 he became chairman of the Remagen Beautification Association, which he headed until his death. In 1906 Kollbach initiated the establishment of the Association for the Preservation of the Erpeler Ley , which successfully campaigned for the rescue of this basalt rock opposite Remagen. His son of the same name (* 1895) later founded his own publishing house. Karl Kollbach died in 1911 as a result of an accident at work.
