Karl Kopp (dermatologist)
Karl Kopp (born August 1, 1855 in Munich ; † November 24, 1912 there ) was a German dermatologist and venereologist.
Life
After graduating from the Wilhelmsgymnasium in Munich in 1872 , he studied medicine at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 1874 he became a member, later an honorary member, of the Corps Franconia Munich . After graduating as Dr. med. he trained in dermatology . After completing his habilitation in 1886 , he set up the first public polyclinic for skin and venereal diseases in Munich . He headed it for 24 years, from 1889 as associate professor . In 1908 he founded a branch of the German Society for the Treatment of Venereal Diseases . He was a corresponding member of the Vienna Dermatological Society . He died of Hodgkin's lymphoma . The subject lost "an excellent teacher, an excellent diagnostician and a noble, characterful person" (H. Ploeger).
Kopp published about 60 papers on various areas of his subject, a textbook and atlases. He worked for three large collective works.
