Karl Kurzmayer
Karl Kurzmayer , also Carl Kurzmayer and Károly Kurzmayer (born November 28, 1901 in Vienna , † January 24, 1972 there ) was an Austrian cameraman .
After an apprenticeship as a photographer during the First World War, he received training as a cameraman at the Pathé film company . From 1918 he was involved in various film productions as a subordinate cameraman. In the 1920s he worked in this capacity and as a documentary filmmaker in Germany, Hungary, Spain and the USA.
At the age of 30 he became a teacher at the Belgrade Film Academy. It was not until 1933 that he started making films as head cameraman. Kurzmayer worked in studios in Budapest from 1936 to 1938 , then again in Vienna. Apart from his participation in the propaganda documentary Battle for Norway , he mainly shot cheerful film comedies, which were often played in Vienna. He was buried at the Baumgartner Friedhof .
