Karl Liedtke

Karl Liedtke (born March 10, 1925 in Bochum ; † July 19, 2008 ) was a German educator and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending primary school, Liedtke was drafted into the Wehrmacht . From 1943 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier . He then completed a pedagogical degree at the teacher training institute, which he completed with both teacher exams for elementary schools. He worked as a primary school teacher since 1946, was a co-founder of the Education and Science Union (GEW) and became the rector of a primary school in Dahlhausen in 1960 .

Political party

Liedtke joined the SPD in 1946 and was elected to the executive committee of the SPD district of Western Westphalia . From 1970 to 1987 he was chairman of the SPD party council.

MP

Liedtke was from 1956 to 1970 council member of the city of Bochum and chairman of the SPD parliamentary group there. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1965 to 1987. In parliament he represented from 1965 to 1980 the constituency Bochum and then until 1987 the constituency Bochum I . From 1976 to 1983 he was deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group, from 1983 to 1987 chairman of the parliamentary committee for postal and telecommunications.
