Karl Michael Marx
Karl Michael Marx (born January 2, 1794 in Karlsruhe , † December 6, 1864 in Braunschweig ) was professor of physics and chemistry in Braunschweig.
Life
In 1814 Marx was a lecturer at the University of Heidelberg , from 1815 to 1817 a teacher at the Pestalozzische Anstalt in Yverdon , from 1817 to 1819 at the Lyceum in Karlsruhe and from 1819 to 1823 at an educational institution in Nuremberg. 1824 to 1847 was professor of physics and general chemistry at the Collegium Carolinum .
In 1827 he constructed tourmaline pliers, which are the simplest polarization apparatus.
In 1831 he suspected that Brownian motion originated from the surrounding water.
In 1837 he was elected a foreign member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences .
