Karl Nüchterlein

Johann Karl Nüchterlein (* 14. March 1904 in Dresden , † April 1945 missing in Yugoslavia) was the designer of the first successful small screen - SLR , which went into series production.

Nüchterlein completed an apprenticeship as a mechanic at the Seidel & Naumann typewriter factory . In 1923 he started working as a mechanic at the Ihagee Kamerawerk Steenbergen & Co. In 1936 the Kine Exakta from the Kamerawerk Steenbergen & Co. was presented at the spring fair in Leipzig , the designer of which was Nüchterlein and which is considered the first single-lens reflex camera. Nüchterlein held numerous patents in camera construction, such as B. SLR camera with exposure meter (1939).

In 1942 Nüchterlein was drafted into the Wehrmacht and has been missing since April 1945.
