Karl Plintzner

Karl Plintzner (born October 20, 1911 in Berlin , Germany , † December 7, 1975 in East Berlin ) was a German cameraman . He began working in the camera sector in 1926, initially as an assistant. During this time he worked with cameramen like Fritz Arno Wagner and Hans Schneeberger . After the Second World War he started working for DEFA in 1946 and from 1950 he was employed as an independent cameraman. From the mid-1960s he was forced to cease working for health reasons. Directors with whom he worked several times were Kurt Maetzig and Slatan Dudow . As part of a team, he was awarded the GDR National Prize several times for his work .
