Karl Popp (engineer)
Karl Popp (born August 14, 1942 in Regensburg ; † April 24, 2005 ) was a German engineer , researcher and university professor .
Life
Popp studied mechanical engineering in Regensburg and at the Technical University of Munich , where he also received his doctorate and qualified as a professor . In 1981 he was appointed professor for mechanics of systems at the University of Hanover and took over the professorship for mechanics B there in 1985 . Until 2005 he was dean of the mechanical engineering department at the university . In addition, in September 2004 he was awarded the title of "Advisory Professor" ( Prof. E. h. ) By Tongji University in China .
Popp has published on topics such as linear and non-linear machine, system and vehicle dynamics , chaotic movements, friction phenomena and mechatronics .
With Franz Otto Kopp and Erwin Stein he was involved in the reconstruction of Leibniz's four-species calculating machine.
