Karl Traut (SS member)

Karl Traut (* 29. January 1906 in Schillingstadt ; † 9. July 1986 in Green City ) was a German obersturmbannführer , leader of Einsatzkommando 3 of Einsatzgruppe A .

Life

Traut was an insurance salesman by profession. Since 1926 he belonged to the SA , in 1932 he joined the NSDAP . From 1936 to 1938 he was staff leader in the SD subsection Palatinate . In the same year he became a member of the SS . In 1938/1939 he led the SD subsection Saar , in 1939/1940 he led SD subsection Mannheim . From 1940 to 1942 he was head of the SD section Hohensalza . In November 1942 he became head of the SD with the commander of the security police and SD in Reval . From November 1942 to May 1943 he headed Einsatzkommando 3 of Einsatzgruppe A. In 1944 he was appointed head of the SD section in Salzburg .

After the war he lived in Grünstadt. In 1975 an investigation by the Frankenthal public prosecutor was closed against him.
